April Favorites from The Beauty Secion
Seriously where has this month gone?! I still feel like it should be the middle of April! But here we are at the end of the month so it’s time for MONTHLY FAVORITES! April has been a great month, I love that the weather is finally starting to warm up and act right. Now let’s get this party started!
Asparagus, Goat Cheese & Pearl Onion Quiche from Frugal Mom Eh!

I wanted to really show off what Hens left alone to do Hen things could make… gorgeous Eggs! What better way to make use of these golden treasures than a delicious Quiche filled with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
DIY: A TP Candle from 3GLOL

What is a TP Candle you ask? Are you sitting down? It’s a candle made from a Toilet Paper Roll. Crazy, right? Who in the world thought one day “Hey, I think I’ll make a candle from my toilet paper.”?
You’re not seeing it yet are you? No worries, you’re not alone. I couldn’t see how you could do this using wax and a toilet paper roll. First off, you don’t burn this candle if that helps any of your concerns. Wait till you see how this is done.
Frozen Yogurt Bites from The (mis)Adventures of a Born Again Farm Girl

Frozen Yogurt Bites from The (mis)Adventures of a Born Again Farm Girl
The littlest country kid LOVES yogurt. I mean like a junky looking for his next fix, he will stand in front of the refrigerator yelling "yogurt!!!" I am please he like his dairy products, but having just turned two, his spoon skills are lacking in the feeding yourself some yogurt department. It is just a mess I like to avoid. And frankly I don't want to sit down and spoon feed it to him, so what is a mama to do!?!? Frozen yogurt!
Being around for over 40 years is part of what helped Starbucks raise to the top as the world’s top coffee retailed. With over 16,850 shops in 40 countries, Starbucks has tested their fair share of drinks and gained more loyal customers than imaginable. The average Starbucks customer visits the store 6 times per month while a loyal 20% of customers go to the stores 16 times per month. Many customers head into Starbucks to get the day started or to keep pushing through a long day. A Starbucks grande coffee has 320 milligrams of caffeine, over four times the amount of caffeine in a Red Bull. I love me a good cup of coffee but I’m obsessed with making and trying to mock recipes. I’ve found 5 DIY Starbucks Holiday Drinks that are worth a try.
Growing Food Without Owning A Speck of Land from Northern Homestead

This is the very first time in our 20+ marriage years that we own some land. Not much, just about 1/8 of an acre. We’re so looking forward to Spring to get the garden started and grow some yummy food. However, as you know, this is not our first year of growing food. We have been growing food without owning a speck of land, and lots of food. So how did we do it? And what advice would we give to someone who does not own any land?
Teacher Appreciation Gift Idea from A Sparkle of Genius

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. What an important week. I hope that everyone remembers to take the opportunity to tell your kids teachers Thank You because teachers really are amazing. Our school does a really good job appreciating our teachers. They have a special activity planned every day of the week including door decorating, favorite meals, favorite snacks, etc so the teachers feel extra special. We are very lucky to have two great teachers right now so I am excited for my kids to give them their teacher appreciation gift.

Keep Good Going – Whistle While You Work
from What's Up Fagans
Buffalo Chicken Tortilla Pizza
From Lambert’s Lately
A few weeks ago, I found out about the beauty of the tortilla pizza.
It was in one of my eMeals recipe lists, and I fell in love.
How did I never know about this? Instead of worrying with pizza dough, just slap your
ingredients on a tortilla...it makes a deliciously thin crust. You'd never know it was a tortilla!
Big Girl Easter Baskets
From Penny's Vintage Home
Easter baskets come in all sizes and shapes....some are filled with pretty colored eggs, some are filled with candy...some with cute little stuffed bunnies...but what about us "big" girls...we want an Easter basket too!
UpCycled Foot Stool
from Redo It Yourself Inspirations
5 Reasons to Strength Train
From Grace, Lace & Iron
Committment: This word is one that probably holds less meaning than any other word in the dictionary, to the current generation. We are a society of instant gratification. Period. We want our fast food, entertainment, and our lives to be well, uh, faster. Never mind who we hurt in the process...who cares about learning the value of people...we must get to where we're going...AND FAST

The humble little Dandelion has remarkable nutritional value, being very high in vitamins A and C, with more beta carotene than carrots and more potassium than broccoli or spinach, not to mention healthy doses of iron and copper for good measure. Medicinally, Dandelions are considered very safe and effective as a general tonic that helps strengthen the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, stomach, and intestines, improving bile flow and reducing inflammation in cases of hepatitis and cirrhosis. Dandelions also help to dissipate gallstones and are believed to improve kidney function, thereby improving overall health and clearing skin problems.
My love for Sephora is well known, however I do buy a lot of my beauty must-haves
from my constant trips to Target as well.
Keep Good Going – Whistle While You Work
from What's Up Fagans
My whistling mother
My mother had faults and things that I couldn’t stand. And I often vowed to myself that I would never be like my mother. However, I am actually a lot like my mother, much to the shame of my teenage self. Not only do I look much more like my mother than my father (thank goodness!), with my long neck, oval face, thin eyebrows, weird fingernails, size eleven feet, and poor English circulation, teeth, and eyesight, but I act like her too

A thrift shop find that I actually like! With just a few changes using leather belts and paint,
this foot stool can have a whole new look.

Strawberries and Cream Pancake Roll
From Curious Cuisiniere
We love wraps for a quick, portable lunch. We’ve only successfully rolled one set of cabbage rolls; so we need a bit of training on that one before we attempted them again. Stuffed is always good. But, we have a lot of stuffed recipes: German Stuffed Rolls, Russian Stuffed Rolls, and the Polish version of ravioli – Pierogi.
We wanted to get out of our stuffed box. (Yup. Pun intended.)
I threw out the idea for stuffed pancakes. Sure, it’s still stuffed, but at least we would move to the breakfast realm. (And, you’ll probably be seeing those make an appearance here soon, because the idea really intrigued us.) But, Tim ran the idea a few steps further and suggested a stuffed pancake roll

Usually I’m not a fan of meringue (the base of the pavlova, in case you’re unfamiliar with this dessert) but meringue is the perfect thing to make a nest-shaped Easter dessert.
If you whip the egg whites up into the right consistency, you can pipe the meringue into a curly-swirly nest shape like I did. If you’re out of piping bags, you can always dollop the mixture onto the tray and then use a spoon to create the delicate swirls and nest shape.
This collection consists of 6 sheer jelly polishes that really reminded of the OPI Sheer Tints. I swear every time OPI releases a different type of polish all the brands release there version of it. I don't think this is the last sheer jelly collection we will see this season.
Don’t you just adore Easter and all of the sunny decorations that come with it? This DIY Easter Egg Garland is the perfect chance to introduce bright, cheerful colors back into your homes even while the weather outside is rainy and dreary. (Well, at least it is in Chicagoland!)
I have a craving for doughnuts that just won't go away. And since I am truly incompetent at making fried doughnuts, the three or so
times I have made doughnuts have been in the oven. Although, I confess, I have
never actually ATTEMPTED to make fried doughnuts, I doubt that me and a pot of
hot oil are a good combination under any circumstance.
Optimizing your blog for Pinterest has become almost a necessity for anybody that's serious about blogging. I've picked up a few tips and tricks along the way that have really helped me get the best results from Pinterest. I hope these help y'all too!
This was a fun vignette to create, using the pink gingerbread travel trailer and spring flowers I purchased to use in the gardens. Since it is much to wet to work in the flower beds, I arranged the flowers around the little trailer and snapped away. A fun way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon.
I love Google+! I like it sooo much better than Facebook, mostly because it doesn’t have all the drama and personal issues that are posted all over FB, at least I haven’t seen it on G+. I also find it easier to use and more visually appealing than FB with more features, no games or requests for help building or upgrading their Post Office.
Anise Hyssop (an herb) is an excellent addition to your garden both for the herbal benefits and for attracting butterflies. Pollinator such as the butterfly are very important for your garden and for balancing a sometimes delicate eco-system.
Now, let me tell you something about my house. If you read this blog regularly, you know I have 3 boys. Which means I don’t get to bust out my girly side all that often. My life is way more sports and dirt than princesses and glitter.
But today, my friends, I’m embracing the glitter. And gold. And all things sparkly.
How to Make Vanilla Extract from "LittleOwlCrunchyMomma"

But today, my friends, I’m embracing the glitter. And gold. And all things sparkly.
How to Make Vanilla Extract from "LittleOwlCrunchyMomma"

Vanilla extract is one of those things that you should always have on hand in your kitchen. It just adds that little bit of flavor to so many homemade goods that just make them shine. I first learned how to make my own vanilla extract from Marillyn over at just-making-noise. I pinned her recipe a long time ago, and finally got around to trying it months later.
Small Armoire Makeover from "The Interior Frugalista"

My most recent project is a Small Armoire Makeover that I've had since the late 70's. When we completed the Master Bedroom Closet Expansion we no longer needed it so I decided to give it a makeover. Now that it's finished, I think it's Too Pretty For A Bedroom Armoire!
