The Climb

Is there something you want to do?  Something you're dreaming of?
Can you see it clearly in your mind?"
How bad do you want it?  What are you dreaming of?
Do you want to go back to school, loose weight, be a better wife or mother?
Whatever you are dreaming of, What's stopping you from having it?
daydreaming
Is there a voice inside your head saying  You'll never reach it?  Are you afraid?   Is your fear the size of a mountain that you "know" you can't climb over?  Does that voice tell you to just accept life the way it is? That your mountain is just to big to climb?  You're not alone,  everyone is afraid of something.  Funny Scared Dog Caption Picture

To conquer fear you have to first admit that it exists in your life.  The only difference between you and the people you admire is that they are willing to move through their fears in order to get where they want to be.
Or, stay trapped and afraid forever.  Forever is a looooong time to be bound by fear!  Choose.
 Prisoner

Life is not perfect.   There's always going to be a mountain on your journey through life. You're always going to want to make it magically move out of your path.   When you look at that mountain and fear grips you, you have to remind yourself that it's not about how fast You reach your destination. It's not even about what's waiting on the other side of that mountain.  It's about the climb.

If you don’t learn how to face your fear it will grip your mind, body, and spirit.  Fear will wage a war against your dreams.   Your life doesn't have to be this way.  Once you understand how to climb past your fear, it will loose its power over your life.

Every time you get knocked down you have to tell yourself that your not broken.  Pick your self you, dust yourself off and get on with the climb.  Don't let fear tell you that you'll never make it. Believe in yourself even if no one else does.  Keep your head held high and climb.  Keep looking at your goal. That is so me... totally in the moment

You've got to take some chances.  Will you always succeed at everything you do?  It really doesn't matter. What matters is that you keep climbing, you don't let the struggles break you, you don't let fear of failure stop you from climbing that mountain, reaching the peak, yelling to the top of your lungs "Mountain you can kiss my #%#, I made it!  I will NEVER give up!!!!!"

So, the next time you’re facing a mountain try these steps:

Write about your fear and its origin. How has it held you back in the past? Reflect on what you’ve written.  When you write down your fear you gain insight and fear loses its power over you.

Do the things that frighten you. Take one small step, then another. Action builds courage. Tell yourself, “This fear will pass.” Your world expands as your courage and willingness to grow expands. Open up your world, today to face your fear.

Relax.  Unclench your jaw, soften your forehead, open your fists, slow down your pounding heart, and breathe.

Celebrate yourself. Reflect on every success you’ve experienced. You can begin as early as when you learned how to ride a bike. Write it all down. You’ll be inspired, motivated and amazed by your list and how it can be used to face your fear.

Stop talking yourself in to keeping your fear. Fear is an illusion. We remember past hurts and pain and imagine even worse future events and rehearse them until we are terrified. Change the fearful stories you tell yourself. You can find safety by learning to live in the present moment. You always have the option to create new stories filled with positive expectations of the future.

Make fun of your fear by laughing at it.   Seriously, let it rip.  Laugh until your ribs hurt and you cant't breath. Try it and see how silly it is to give your power away to something that isn’t real!  Fear is not real!

Believe in yourself. Focus your attention on what you want to accomplish.  Be ready, willing, and prepared for awesome circumstances that are yours if you are willing to push yourself to the top of that mountain.  You deserve the best no matter what. Accept that fact and live expectantly.

Take your fear and shove it. Let go of looking stupid, feeling embarrassed, being ignored and facing rejection or failure. Accept failure as a part of life. Get through it and get over it and keep on climbing.

Take others with you and help them succeed as well. What would life be like if we believed in, “All for one, and one for all?” We all want the same things in life. Let’s help each other move ahead.

View life as a creative and wild adventure.  Life can be bursting with great beauty and adventure or overwhelming with challenge and tragedy. Choose to stay present and breathe through it all. Be grateful for the varied landscape, hold onto your hat, and enjoy the climb.

  1. That's the hardest part ... admitting the fear. It's easier to ignore it most of the time.
    Great post Angel.

  2. So encouraging. I'm working on fear right now... specifically working to overcome trauma. Some of the tips you've shared, I'm using... but I'm going to try I few that are new to me (i.e. laughing fear in the face).

    Thanks for this Monday motivator!

    Wishing you a lovely day.

  5. Love this! That quote is awesome! You are absolutely right - to reach our goals, we have to step out of our comfort zones, we have to believe, and sometimes it won't work out the way we want. But if we don't make that "climb" we'll never know what might have been.

    1. Hi Michelle
So true. As a nurse I heard a lot of last wishes and the majority are wishing they had taken that "climb".
